At Mito Digital, we create clever digital solutions—from apps to websites—for lottery and aviation brands around the world. Now, our 30+ strong Lottery & Betting team is looking for its next Backend Developer.

We’re not saying we can guarantee a jackpot, but after 10+ years in the lottery game, we can offer a golden ticket to exciting projects—like developing new lottery games and digital scratch cards, plus keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes.

This is a brand new position, and we’re looking for a mid-level PHP Developer to join us. You’ll be working with our own codebase (yep, a bit old, but we keep things tidy) and integrating with our backend partner’s systems via API.

And yes, we use PHP—but we’ve got teammates dabbling in Rust and Go too. So if you’re curious about other tech, this is a good place to be.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Developing and maintaining large-scale web applications and APIs
  • Adding new features (hello, shiny new lottery games!)
  • Squashing bugs and solving backend mysteries
  • Refactoring old code (we like to keep things clean)
  • Reviewing code and contributing to planning sessions
  • Deploying and troubleshooting on servers (if you’re into DevOps)

What we’re after:

  • Strong in OO PHP (preferably 8.x)
  • Experience with an MVC framework (Yii 2, Laravel, Symfony, Zend—you name it)
  • Confident with MySQL (and bonus points for NoSQL know-how)
  • Comfortable using Git (we are!)
  • Hungarian and English fluency (enough to chat with the team and tackle docs)
  • Familiarity with design patterns

You’ll make us extra happy if you...

  • Know automated testing frameworks
  • Follow SOLID principles
  • Have hands-on experience with Couchbase, Redis, Memcached (or similar)
  • Can handle Linux beyond user-level
  • Are into CI/CD pipelines and tools like Ansible
  • Have used Jira (or similar ticketing tools)

    01Interview

    If everything is cool with your resume, we’ll invite you to our office for a quick chat. You’ll meet with one of our colleagues from the People Team, who will introduce you to Mito and all the good stuff you will be part of if you decide to join us. She will be with you throughout the entire process and will assist you with anything you might need. You will have the opportunity to meet with the head of your future department as well. Most importantly, you will get to ask anything you’re curious about, from where our dogs take a nap to what specific tasks we work on for our clients.

  • 02Assessment

    Afterwards, we will give you a test assignment. We do this with everyone, on every level.

  • 03Feedback

    No matter the outcome, we’ll let you know what we think, so we all can learn from the experience. We greatly value your feedback regarding the whole process, so at this point we'll ask you some short but important questions as well.

  • 04Decision

    Just like with the test assignment, we’ll get back to you with our final decision, hopefully with a big and happy yes!
