How we created half a campaign for Brain Bar

We chose the obvious solution to tell the story of what makes us human, and only created half a campaign. And outsourced the other half to algorithms.

OTP, the region’s fastest growing bank has been the main sponsor of Hungary’s biggest, most innovative tech festival, Brain Bar, for years. 2022’s topic was: “What makes us human?”

Since we had to raise awareness about OTP’s role at the event while strengthening the bank’s top notch digital image, we’ve created… half a campaign.

The brief

The campaign process

Our campaign for OTP was all about showcasing the capabilities of artificial intelligence. We kicked off the campaign by releasing a series of ads and marketing materials, and then asked our audience to guess whether they were created by an AI or by humans.

The response was overwhelmingly positive, as people were fascinated by the idea of AI-generated content and were eager to see how it compared to traditional human-created materials.

And yes, even the previous two paragraphs were written by an AI. Whoops.

What else?

We’ve also created an audio ad hand in hand with an AI, where a talent was talking to an algorithm generated voice. Of course we did not tell which one was which.

Also, even half of our lines of code for the campaign’s website was written by machines.

Also also, attendees of the event had the chance to create their own images with the help of artificial intelligence at the OTP booth.

Our other half

To generate the key visuals, we used the models of Disco Diffusion, MidJourney and DALL-E 2 (before it became a popular tool for memes and ads!). The team went with the creation of the latter, which was given the following prompt: Dreamy oil painting of a metropolis street after summer rain, office buildings, cars and people walking with umbrellas, epic composition, trending on artstation.

For the website we used GitHub Copilot, which translated our description to code with the help of an algorithm trained on millions of softwares. As an easter egg, we’ve left these original descriptions in the final code, so anyone, who looks for the source code of the site, will see all our inquiries we made for the AI.
